I'm going to let others be right most of the time. I came to this conclusion after watching the recent "discussions" between our President and Democrat and Republican leaders. In the worst moments, as I was feeling my stomach turn, I saw myself. And I was horrified.
It seemed to me that our Nation's leaders were more concerned with their two minutes of fame than the problems of the average man, you and I. Before anyone had finished speaking, someone would be tossing in their prepared rebuttal. Often off topic.
I was embarrassed by the performance of the Democrat leaders, and often sickened by their opposition. And then a light went off, "I'm like that".
When I was much, much younger, and a swimmer, I could hold my breath for a long time. We would dive into the pool and see how many 20 yard laps we could swim under water. I would test myself now, but I am alone in the house. If I pass out, who would revive me?
I have slowly become more aerobically fit. So, until I can hold my breath more than 60 seconds, I am going to avoid arguments. I am not a world leader, so I don't think the repercussion will be major.
Now our president, on the other hand, has a different problem. Having been a Harvard scholar, I expected him to be more adept at manipulating group behavior. Looking cool, calm, collect, but firm, plays well to the camera, but not the rabble. He doesn't seem to have taken any of the advance electives on "swaying the opinion of your opposition" or "cut throat politics". So I'll throw in my own advice, by offering two courses of action.
- Remove them from the teeter totter and make them play somewhere else
- Take them to a quiet area and make them sit on a chair
He needs to start playing power politics. I honestly believe that when Lyndon Baines Johnson took his opposition to the "quiet area" the chair was wired, the opposition was shocked, and the area was "the quiet area" because it was sound proof. Democrat or Republican, you could scream all day! I can hear him now: "I can do this all day, but you are missing out on play time with your friends." Come on all you have to do is agree with me and then. "Oli, Oli Oxen, free, free, free!"
Mr. President, you are the adult. Get the kids in line.

Waldo County, situated in mid-coast Maine along scenic Penobscot Bay, has genuine New England character evidenced by working port towns and quaint rural villages. Visitors are awed by the area's unspoiled beauty. From striking coastal views to sweeping mountain vistas, dramatic natural settings abound. In addition great care has been taken to preserve and refurbish numerous historic landmarks, homes and buildings. Consequently, the Maine of yesteryear is still found here.
