I went to bed with visions of "Whoopie Pies" in my mind's eye and a ham in my line of site! I knew, then, that this was going to be a wedding to remember!
"Chef" (from Latin caput) is the abbreviated form of the French phrase chef de cuisine, the "chief" or "head" of a kitchen. The title chef in the culinary profession originates from the roots of haute cuisine in the 19th century. The English use of the word chef has become a term that is sometimes used to mean any professional cook, regardless of rank. Neckties were originally worn to allow for the mopping of sweat from the face, but as this is now against health and safety regulations (due to hygiene), they are largely decorative.
Like an artist with blank canvas, he creates a
masterpiece. His goal - to provide his guests with an unforgettable feast. With skillful hands and talent, he makes light work of it. Chopping, mixing and stirring until all the pieces fit. With pride he serves each dinner, inspecting each fine detail.
It must look flawless in his eyes if he is not to fail. His reward is smiling faces, empty plates with nothing left.

What to do during a break from food prep? Make some bridal bouquets!
A salute (also called obeisance) is a gesture (often a finger gesture) or other action used to display respect. A gesture called a wai is used in Thailand, where the hands are placed together palm to palm, approximately at nose level, while bowing. The wai is similar in form to the gesture referred to by the Japanese term gassho by Buddhists. A Chinese martial arts greeting features the right hand in a fist with the left hand open covering it with a slight nod of the head.
I am an overweight Irish Catholic. I will not attempt a salute that requires balance, coordination, grace, a foreign language, or large words and complex phrases. I know my limits. Hopefully my pictures will, in some small way, express my admiration and respect for those incredible young men and women who made this a weekend to remember. You are artists. Yet no task was too mundane, no detail too small. Thank you all. This old man salutes you.
I think I can now recognize a "confit", maybe not if in a jar. However a "ramp", to me, is a public service structure I hope I will not need!
The chefs were the stars, but there were no idle hands. Some practiced their "throws" so that the flowers would gracefully float to the ground. Others made sure that not only would the bridal party look good, but that no one would trip or fall.
More pictures to follow!
Relaxing for me is not a regular treat, to sit on my ass and lift my feet.

Visitors are awed by the area's unspoiled beauty. From striking coastal views to sweeping mountain vistas, dramatic natural settings abound. In addition great care has been taken to preserve and refurbish numerous historic landmarks, homes and buildings. Consequently, the Maine of yesteryear is still found here.
